Noona: Oncology-Focused Patient Engagement in Radiosurgery

Varian’s Noona is an oncology-focused solution for patient engagement designed to support

radiotherapy and radiosurgery patients every step of the way, from diagnosis through to post-
treatment follow-up. Noona helps enhance patient care by automating the delivery of essential

treatment information (e.g. upcoming appointments, education materials, test results, and
clinical reports) and extending the point of care from inside the hospital directly to patients.
Patients get access to personalized treatment-related information and by having a digital
communication channel with the clinic and all their care information in one place, patients and
their loved ones are one click away from having another way to help cope with treatment.
At CancerCare Manitoba (CCMB) in Canada, the radiation oncology team have implemented
Noona for brain metastases patients treated with radiosurgery on their Edge.
Rashmi Koul MD, Medical Director and Head, Radiation Oncology Program at CCMB,
commented that “the information also stays on their phone so they can always pull it up and
read it if they want to. Patients love having everything that’s portable with them. Even the elderly
patients did reasonably well handling Noona, which is good.”
Patients receive information via Noona prior to their first appointment including the campus
map and tailored educational information so that they can be prepared to ask any questions.
