The treatment of patients with medically intractable glossopharyngeal neuralgia (GN) is challenging. Gamma Knife radiosurgery (GKRS) has emerged as an incisionless treatment option for GN. To date, the available evidence regarding GKRS outcomes in GN has been derived from a limited number of single- or multicenter studies involving small patient cohorts. Therefore, the outcomes of GKRS for medically intractable GN remain uncertain and several aspects of the treatment, including outcome predictors and the optimal radiosurgical technique, are still debated. This webinar explores the current clinical evidence on radiosurgery for the treatment of glossopharyngeal neuralgia and discusses its controversial aspects, with the aim of defining an optimal treatment strategy that maximizes effectiveness while minimizing adverse events.
